3D Models
Ancient Templar Relic

This project involved taking a concept image of a game model that was never 3D modeled. The assignment's purpose was to learn to make a model from concept art. With the assignment's purpose in mind, this piece was modeled after David Harrington's concept art for League of Legends. I split the model into four parts, the base, side panels, triangle, and sphere. Modeling the sphere gave me the most trouble due to the middle opening parts. When it came to texture, I went for a more handpainted look. I felt as though this fit the League of Legend style the best. Looking back now, I still feel this way for the most part. One-piece I would have changed is to bake all the gold detailing. The big takeaway for this assignment was to learn to make it look as close to the concept image as possible.

Cannon with Environment

This project involved creating an environment based on the cannon from my previous assignment. The purpose of this project was to create an environment that would complement the cannon. I enjoyed modeling all the pieces and finding a way to place them all pleasingly. Since my cannon was frozen, I decided to go for a snowy abandoned war scene. The biggest challenge I faced during this assignment was baking the high on the low. The issue was that I didn't fully understand how baking works. After a couple of videos and some trial and error, I was finally able to bake successfully. When it came to textures, I didn't have much trouble. The key takeaway from this assignment was to be able to make a cohesive model.

*The sculpt for the cannon was provided by my professor.*

The purpose of this assignment was to re-learn all the basics of modeling all over again. It was also my first experience with retopology. A big lesson I learned is to work slowly and save often. There were times when I would work too quickly, causing me to miss some mistakes early on that slowed my progress later on. Another learning experience during this assignment was texturing. Clicking on the button below will expand on my experience with the texturing process.
